University Professor Information

Accountancy:

KE Zhong

She seems serious instructor but makes many jokes in her lecture. Three assignments you need to submit help to improve your grade when you make mistake on the exams.

Ke is the best accounting teacher I have had at CWU. She is very straightforward. Make sure you work out all the homework problems she puts on review sheets. That helped me maintain a B. MC questions on test are hard. Most points on test come from working out problems.

Ke Zhong is the most straight forward teacher I had at CWU. She uses the slides from the book and goes into each subject with great detail making it easy to learn.

Karen Martinis

She is very informative, does a great job introducing and showing the accounting behind transactions. Excellent and intelligent. I wish she thought more classes. Understands what the real world is. but provides you with the mindset to work though problems. Have decided to take her for as many classes as possible

Accounting is a hard subject so people tend to blame the teacher. However, she is an awesome teacher and tries to get the material across as simply as possible. You can tell she knows what she's talking about. RECOMMENDED

Karen is a great teacher. I was not doing so hot in the class. I was studying right an everything and she got my thinking in to the right way and came back passed the class. The class is extremely hard, but will make you a better accountant after it. Make sure you do the homework problems and maybe extra if you don't get it.

Margaret Smith

Smith is awesome. 251 was a review of high school accounting for me so I found it very easy. She reviews for 20 minutes before every exam. Finals are comprehensive but only on the first 4 chapters usually. Wish I could've taken her for 252!

Lectures are very clear and make things easy to understand. Goes at a brisk pace but checks in to make sure everyone is understanding and if not she slows down and goes back. Tests after every chapter which turns out to be every 3-5 days. Reviews right before the test and tells you exactly what is going to be on the test and how to do it.

Solid teacher. Didn't have much of an accounting background before this class, but I can confidently say that I do now. Lots of tests; for every two lectures there is a test. I consider this a good thing thoughhelps you focus on the material much better. Offers a lot of bonus points too!

Filip Jagodzinski

Great teacher! I took him for 111 and he was absolutely great, makes material easy to understand. The projects are real life applications of the material. Study for the midterm and final and you'll have a good time in his class. Work hard and you'll do fine and probably get an A.

Awesome teacher! Took him in the summer so the class was smaller than normal, but he was very helpful and made sure you understood the content. Heard he was going to WWU and that makes me so sad!! I would have taken a class taught by him anyday!

Dr J. is the best professor I have ever had. Anyone who has had him and actually cared will agree. He is thoughtful, helpful, and will spend as much time as needed to help students succeed.

Angela Unruh

Angela was very helpful and her course was of a very high quality. Any time I ran into confusion from a subject in the textbook, she would have a module that explained exactly what I wasn't understanding. She made a subject I would typically find quite boring interesting.

Angela is a Fantastic Teacher, she is understanding and very helpful. This class is a bit difficult, but as long as if you go through the material you'll be able to pass. I love that there is no time limit to her assignments. It allows me to freely go through the book and my notes. In the real world, you would be able to do this.

She is a very well organized, and extremely helpful teacher. I was sick for 2 weeks, in and out of the hospital and she was always willing to give me an extension. She answered my emails almost immediately, even at 11pm! Best teacher I've ever had. I took her online class, and I learned a lot!

Fabio Guerinoni

I didn't know how to program at all. I now know 15 programming languages after listening to Fabio for even one lecture. Amazing teacher. Great character too, the kind of guy you totally wanna chill with.

Fabio saved my quarter. I had never programmed in my entire life, but he taught me how to write artificial neural networks in COBOL in only 5 minutes.

Fabio is a great professor and writes really clear requirements. His tests are very straightforward too, and you can find all the important material for them in the textbooks. His feet never touch the ground.

Engineering:

Mike Andler

great teacher. a few projects and tests with weekly assignments. everything he says will be on the test. he does allow note cards during the tests. if you meet with him for a project you get a gaurenteed A. overall great class and great teacher

He is a great professor and really wants students to succeed. Take notes in class because the exact questions will be on the tests and you get a note card for every one. If you have questions go talk to him he is very helpful outside the classroom as well.

Andler is one of the best instructors I've had, EVER. He's very knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics, presents information in an easy-to-understand manner, and genuinely cares about his students. An all-around great guy, and I would HIGHLY recommend taking IET 101 from him if you are at all curious about industrial or engineering fields.

Roger Beardsley

Thermodynamics is definitely not an easy class, but this professor excelled in making this class an interesting class. He always has a way in explaining the material. You have troubles passing the course? He will help you pass if you are willing to work for it. One of the best CWU has to offer.

I have had 6 classes with this professor. He has a way of making very complicated material easy. I learned the most in his classes, and I was most prepared for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in the topics that he taught. I highly recommend him.

A very good instructor. Taken 4 classes with. Could maybe do a little better with MET327 lecture but the class would be hard none the less. Wish there were more profs like him in the lower level classes.

Nathan Davis

Lectures are clear and informative. Very helpful during and outside of class. Attendance is not mandatory, but you don't want to miss a lecture. In-class exams are challenging, take-home exams and homework are several hours of work.

Davis is a really chill, easy-going guy, has a very good dry sense of humor, and he's pretty good at lecturing. Just be warned his homework is insanely hard compared to the examples shown in class, and some problems had things not even covered, which turned the homework into a guessing. However, he's very willing to help, which makes up for it.

Davis was the best teacher I have had since starting college. I started his class with mild interest in the subject and now am pursuing it as a minor (possible double major). He is new at the time of this writing but he is well organized, very understandable and has a great sense of humor.

Academics:

College Freshman Dec 24 2015

The education programs are great and the Douglas honors college is very popular on campus.

College Sophomore Oct 10 2014

There are so many opportunities and so much help being an education major. Everyone wants you to succeed. So far, the workload is not very heavy, unless you're taking a lot of credits, and there are plenty of opportunities to help you get farther just looking in the education building.

College Freshman Mar 17 2014

I feel like I have learned a lot. The class sizes are small so the teachers know you by name and are really willing to help. Classes can be hard because it's so small but you learn a tremendous amount!

College Freshman Mar 17 2014

There are a lot of studies offered and I am came to central because they have one of the best business programs out there.

College Junior Feb 28 2014

Whenever I need help, there are always faculty willing to help. That is what I like about small universities. Your professors know you for your name, you are not a number.

College Junior Feb 3 2014

The English department is fantastic. The professors are wonderful, the classes are interesting and the students within the department are friendly. I feel like I'm getting my money's worth from this program.

College Freshman Jan 29 2014

I like the academics, you get a hands on experience with the professors and they're always available during office hours.

Campus Quality:

College Sophomore Jun 13 2014

We have wonderful buildings for each of the majors, in fact there is construction going on another science building. The rec center is fantastic and accommodates students that are athletic, not, or somewhere in between. The library has many resources available for students to help with papers, drop in tutoring, easy for groups to work together, etc. Campus activities are always well advertised.

College Freshman Jan 18 2014

Everything is located in one building so its easy to get everything done at once. The library is open very late with places to work in groups or by yourself. There is a Japanese garden to relax along with large fields to play sports or just relax on.

College Sophomore Jan 12 2014

All of the facilities are specially designed for their purpose. The SURC has an excellent student athletic center. There is also the McIntyre music building with both a small recital hall and a large concert hall. The building has many practice rooms for students.

College Freshman Jan 2 2014

CWU is located in a college town, but the school tries to give students things to do on the weekends. The athletic facilities are modern and up to date, and constantly used by many students. The library is huge, with 4 stories and many different computer labs throughout the building. I wish there were more clubs or organized student hangouts, because it can get boring especially in the winter.

College Sophomore Dec 31 2013

Most students hang out in the SURC. It is where most on campus food is, the gym, lounging area, and student store is. Students either hang out there, outside, the library, or in the dorms. There are many chances to be involved with student activities, students must be willing to be out there and wanting to participate.

College Freshman Dec 14 2013

We have some of the nicest facilities around. I really love our gym, and the music building is absolutely stunning.

College Freshman Dec 14 2013

We have a rock climbing wall! A swimming pool, and four full court basketball courts.

Diversity:

College Sophomore Jan 21 2016

The campus is very diverse religiously and politically. Most students are Christian, but there are things for the other religions, and the politics are very spread out across the spectrum.

College Sophomore Jan 21

The campus if fairly diverse both politically and religiously. The majority of students are christian, but there are outlets for other religions as well. The politics I suppose tends to be more right leaning, but again there is wide range of the political spectrum having extremes on both sides and everyone in between.

College Sophomore Jun 13 2014

The diversity on campus is very easily seen, and very well accepted. LGBT students are no different than non-LGBT students. It's quite nice.

College Student Apr 28 2014

Visiting the campus was great experience to see how accepting and diverse the school is. Walks of every life and there seemed to be no lines dividing people by race, religion, or anything else. The campus is very open and you have the opportunity to be yourself without worries.

College Student Feb 18 2014

There are clubs for each different group but absolutely no discrimination against anyone. Anyone can join any group and every group is glad to have you.

College Freshman Jan 19 2014

There are a lot of people from different backgrounds both religiously and ethnicity. We have students from all over the world who come to study.

College Freshman Jan 18 2014

Diversity is great. Central has a department of social diversity which does talks in classes to raise awareness of issues. The community is very accepting and inviting.

Guys & Girls:

College Freshman May 9 2014

You have to be somewhat willing to approach others. There are local shows in the area and plenty of organizations to fit your interest. Because there are students from both sides of the mountains there's a variety of interests and opinions.

College Freshman Jan 19 2014

The guys that i know on campus are nice, they dress fairly well, very social with in their groups. Girls are similar in these aspects as well just make sure you get to know people before you make them your friends.

College Freshman Jan 18 2014

The girls for the most part are fairly nice and most are pretty attractive.

College Freshman Jan 18 2014

Girls dress in the stereotypical Pacific Northwest outfit. This includes a North Face wind breaker, black leggings, and brown uggs. There are a lot of different versions but there is a large amount that dress exactly as described.

College Freshman Nov 3 2013

There are a lot of cute people around but they aren't really that friendly. People aren't mean but compared to other schools they keep to themselves more.

College Junior Oct 1 2013

There is a wide variety of girls and boys here. Some are very attractive and others not so much. There are geeks, jocks, Barbie dolls, and tomboys everywhere so there is a good mix of groups.
