University Professor Information

Computer Science:

Donald Fricker
I really enjoyed being in Professor Fricker's class. He's outgoing and I personally think he does a great job teaching. He jokes around and he's very interactive with students.

Very chill dude. Easy grader, eager to answer questions (if you have any.)

great teach, understanding when i came lat to class because of work.

Jim Aman
Very good teacher. You gotta go to class all the time, but he won't mind if you're late, and really looks out to help everyone where and when they need it. And I agree with whoever said he never forgets his students and brings real-world experience, thats definitely a plus.

Not only is he a great instructor, but he never forgets his students. Wish I could take another class with him.

Excellent professor, brings a lot of real-world exp. into the class. (But stay away if you love Windows)

Khaled Alzoubi

He is very clear on what he wants and is willing to help when you need it. If you do what's needed you will get an A in the class. Labs are fun and overall a GREAT professor!!

super easy. you need to book to do the assignments. as long as you do the assignments on time, you will get an A in the class. there's not a lot of lecturing which kind of sucked since class was mandatory. but near the end of the semester he made coming to class optional

could come off as strict the first time, but take him again and realize he's one of the best teachers at SXU! Always open to questions and help. You have to go to class, lectures are very strait forward and he makes sure everyone understands before switching topics. Highly recommended

Monica Ryan:

ASK QUESTIONS. Participation is key! Prof. Ryan loves feedback and very much encourages participation - no question is 'stupid.' She encourages students to review their exam with her. Lectures can be lengthy. Quizzes come mainly from the textbook, but some students got by reviewing ATI. She provides blueprint with exactly what will be on exam.

Professor Ryan is a great instructor. At first she seems a bit intimidating, but she is one of the sweetest instructors at St. Xavier. She was very clear and to the point. What i liked most is that she gave each student one on one time during lab to make sure everyone was on the same page. She was awesome!

She is an EXCELLENT prof unlike others the university has. She is always willing to help and answers her emails with the quickness. She is very fair with her tests and there are no surprises. Class is very interesting as well as lab. She is an excellent person and prof. We need more professors like her. On the real.

Janet Dahm

She is one of the MOST caring professors in the place :) She teaches the psych clinical

Janet Dahm is caring and always looking to help her students. I miss having her as a teacher and clinical instructor!

Great teacher. Cares a lot about her students and is very passionate about her job and what she teaches.

Larry Meneghini
He is one of the best. I really liked him. His tests aren't that hard either.

Great Professor very nice and willing to help you if you need it. Test question are really only the powerpoints as he says follow the dog when you study. He review the previous powerpoint in the next classes and allow asking questions if you do not understand something.

Larry is a funny guy. Participate often in his class and visit him during office hours to discuss your tests. Study the text and his power points "follow the dog!"

Paul Belsky
Wonderful Professor! Take lots of notes. He lays out the lesson on the board then walks you through step by step. Homework every class but he writes comments on it so you know why the answer is right or wrong. Then he reviews it in class. Even gives helpful handouts and explains them. Would take him again.

This guy is the Godfather of Finance. Such a great man who really cares about his students. If you have to take a finance course take Belsky even if it only offered at night. The class itself can be boring but you really do learn stuff and he's a fair minded grader. Excellent Professor!!
Professor Belsky is one of those genuine instructors who really care about their students. He's also very knowledgeable in pretty much everything and especially finance. Just do his weekly assignments and you'll get an A or B. Tests aren't that difficult either.

Song Wang
Dr. Wang is awesome, and easy going. There is only 3 homework assignments and the book is not needed at all and he will let you know this. His power points are detailed and he has many - many examples for you to go back to for homework. He goes step by step and does not assume you know anything about Finance.

Prof. Wang is an awesome instructor. He only assigns 3 assignments and 1 group project at the end of the semester. If you go to class and the labs, you will have no problem with the assignments. Tests are fair and he gives a review session the day before the exams and a study guide. Would definately take him again.

Simple class. Im not a finance major but if you pay attention, do the study guides, and take time with the only 3 homework assignments, you should do fine. Hes a funny guy, but keep in mind hes teaching finance, a pretty straightforward class, it may get a bit boring. Would definitely take him again for other classes.

Students Talks About This University

College Freshman Dec 29 2015
The academics offered at my school are great! We have a lot of interesting and desired classes that students like to take. The professors for the most part are easy going and are very passionate about their jobs, they also love to see their students succeed and make themselves available for outside class meetings individually. The registration process is very easy in my opinion, you register online and the process has step by step instructions and it is easy to understsnd. The workload for classes is good, the amount of work is fair, it's never really too much. As far as the study areas they are great and very useful/helpful to the students. There are many study spaces for students and they are also comfortable.

College Senior Jul 17 2014
The professors who teach the courses for my major are some of the best professors on the entire campus. People who don't even have my major would agree. The workload is heavy but definitely possible to maintain. My university should put more money toward the Psychology department so we could have many more opportunities and supplies.
College Senior Jul 17 2014
The professors are great. The better the professor, the more challenging the curriculum but there is a lot of help offered.
College Senior May 9 2014
It's great. Faculty are willing to help you out in any way possible. My program allows you to think outside the box and gain real-world knowledge. The workload is not overbearing as long as you stay on top of it. The curriculum is so interesting and you have plenty of options that will fit your interests.
College Freshman Mar 28 2014
The professors are friendly and always willing to help. The workload is manageable and there are special study options for those who need it.
College Sophomore Mar 25 2014
I am a nursing major. I must say that the work is very challenging, but I'm going to be responsible for the lives of others. Therefore, I expect the work to be challenging. SXU has a NCLEX-RN pass rate of 96%. In 2011 SXU was the #1 in Illinois to graduate the most Hispanic and African-American nurses.

Campus Quality:
College Junior Nov 19 2013
Campus Quality: Every lab and classroom including the library is up to date in technology. The entire school is very resourceful.
College Junior Oct 29 2013
The architecture is great. The dorms have been modernized, for the most part. I really like the grotto of our Lady, which is right across two dorms and by one of the school's back entrances. We also have a small lake which is pretty. The grounds are great for walking. There is a lot of greenery. The prime parking lot is not so big. There is more parking to the West of the school, but the walk to the main building is a little bit. There are places to eat on grounds, besides the cafeteria. There are benches to sit or eat or study. We have a student center, a huge gymnasium, a workout facility, a bookstore, sports fields, but no pool :( Our library was just rehabbed. It looks fantastic. We have many organizations and activities going on all the time. There is something for everyone - if you have the time. I'm almost always studying :(
College Junior Sep 9 2013
There's always something going on whether it's out in the quad or after hours. There are always functions going on for people to get involved with!
College Junior Aug 11 2013
The facilities are great. Great library, great hang out spots, great gym to work out, and we also have a new Starbucks which has been a huge hit on campus. Everyone hangs out there. There's even been open mics in Starbucks.
College Sophomore May 11 2013
The Shannon Center for athletics is beautiful! The library is beautiful as well. The university does an excellent job with campus activities and having events which allow the students to get involved!
College Senior May 4 2013
My college supports many great programs and presents great opportunity to its students. Also, students, faculty, and staff are very friendly and are open to new ideas. Basically, everyone is very much supportive of one another to the extent where it gives one a sense of community.

College Senior May 9 2014
My school is very diverse. Not only that, but they are so welcoming and accepting as well.
College Freshman Mar 28 2014
Everyone here is very accepting of others no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.
College Junior Sep 12 2013
All are really excepted. There are a wide variety of people and a bunch of groups that are accepting to people of all religions, sexual orientations, and ethnicitys!
College Senior Aug 30 2013
the diversity here is among the best things there is. no one is discriminated by anyone, everybody is welcomed!
College Junior Aug 29 2013
There are kinds of people in Saint Xavier from different religious, political, and economic backgrounds though mostly whites.
College Sophomore Jul 13 2013
At the SXU, it very disverse when it comes to race, views, economic and etc. There are so many people from different backgrounds and are easy to talk to.

Guys & Girls:
College Senior Jul 6 2014
The school has just as many cliques as an average high school, but that is most likely due to the size of the campus. As a whole, we have the typical archetypal groups.
College Junior Nov 19 2013
You mostly see students in sweats and tshirts. Mostly students are dressed comfortably.
College Junior Aug 29 2013
Most of the students seem friendly and willing to help out if you have a question. There are all kinds of 'classifications' of students and no real shortage of any group.
College Junior Jul 25 2013
There are so many different types of guys and girls at St Xavier. Every person is unique and has different personalities which I think helps make the school stand out.
College Sophomore Jun 5 2013
I feel as if the people at this university are all around nice and friendly to peers. I have never had a bad relationship with anybody at this university. The greatest thing i like about the people here is that they are willing to help when help is needed.
College Sophomore Jan 25 2013
The school is so diverse that it is difficult to fit everyone into one category. You'll find some of everyone here.
College Sophomore Jun 3 2012
There are alot of athletes here; that makes for a lot of cute guys. There is a decent amount of diversity in dress and ethnicities so its possible that you will find someone you like. Beware of the players though since the school is only like 30 percent male here and so guys have their pick of girls. Girls are diverse but dress like slobs. Not me lol
